The 2011 LVMH Recherche symposium (27 October) will be held in London and focus on the latest areas of progress in anti-ageing research and skin rejuvenation. Skin ageing is a complex process and influences the deterioration of most aspects of our personal and social lives.

Two events come together to create 'Beauty Week in Bangkok'
For the first time in the history of the show, in-cosmetics Asia has collaborated with the International Federation of the Societies of Cosmetics Chemists (IFSCC) partnered with the Society of Cosmetic Chemists Thailand (SCCT) to create ‘Beauty Week in Bangkok’. Marine biotech deal
Scottish marine biotechnology company, Aquapharm Biodiscovery Ltd, which signed a three year R&D agreement with Croda, a global leader in speciality chemicals for the personal care market in 2008, has struck a renewed deal to work with Croda’s highly respected cosmetics subsidiary, Sederma, to advance a shortlist of naturally sourced candidates.
Eye rejuvenation
Rahn has introduced their new active ingredient “Proteolea - a new Source of Strength to Rebalance the Signs of Time” which rejuvenates the eye area by reversing the effects of time by six years in only four weeks.
Self tan odour removed
The main disadvantage of self-tanning products is the odour of the molecules generated by the Maillard reaction during tanning process. Through an exclusive partnership agreement with CPL Aromas, a UK-based international fragrance house, Soliance has created Vegetan FL Creation, an innovative solution to specifically cover odours generated by DHA.
Actives acquisition
Active ingredients company, Unipex, announced this week that it has acquired Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, a leading supplier of natural cosmetic functional ingredients, delivery systems, and active ingredients.

More and more women are looking for the immediate results of “Botox” without the necessary doctor visits and medical procedures. Not to mention the costs involved in these “anti-ageing” procedures.
Sensitive skin soothing
Over 50% of people, men as well as women, feel sensations of skin discomfort. Their skin is known as “sensitive”, “reactive” or “intolerant”. This skin type overreacts to external aggressions (UV radiation, heat, cold, pollution, stress etc.) and needs adapted care.

SCSS events announced
The Society of Cosmetic Scientists (Singapore) has released details of its event programme for the second half of 2011. On Tuesday 5 July there will be an online workshop entitled “Exporting to Australia” which is free of charge.

Grant Industries has announced the launch of Gransolve DMI, a highly pure, low odour version of dimethyl isosorbide. This solvent is sustainably derived from renewable corn sugar and is easily formulated to stabilise and deliver active ingredients into the skin for outstanding efficacy and performance attributes.
Anti-ageing innovation
Sinerga reveals an innovative ingredient in the field of anti-ageing agents: ATP 23 (INCI name: Azeloyl Tetrapetide-23) is a new advanced proage peptide that slows down the oxidative damage, inhibits the glycation of dermal proteins and consequently the skin ageing processes.
Enhanced feel
Air Products launched its new Deposilk Q1 Polymer at in-cosmetics in Milan, Italy, on 29 March. Deposilk Q1 Polymer provides personal care formulations with a silky and smooth feel while enhancing deposition of silicone and other ingredients on skin or hair.
Call for Australian conference papers
The 2012 Annual Conference of the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists, entitled: Desire and Innovation, will be held at the Hilton Adelaide, Victoria Square, Adelaide, South Australia from 22-25 March 2012.

US-based Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients (AAFI) has appointed DKSH’s business unit Performance Materials, a leading specialty chemicals distributor, to distribute its pharma and personal care product ranges in Vietnam.

Eastman Chemical Company introduces its first commercially available product derived from GEM technology, the proprietary green manufacturing process and winner of the EPA’s Presidential Green Chemical Award in 2009 (Eastman GEM technology was formerly known as the Eastman green biocatalytic process).
