Stable low odour active delivery

Grant Industries has announced the launch of Gransolve DMI, a highly pure, low odour version of dimethyl isosorbide. This solvent is sustainably derived from renewable corn sugar and is easily formulated to stabilise and deliver active ingredients into the skin for outstanding efficacy and performance attributes.

It is available for use in personal care, sun care and topical pharmaceutical applications (FDA approved up to 15% in topical OTC preparations). Gransolve DMI is a nonionic solvent and remains stable over most pH ranges found in cosmetics, while maintaining formula liquidity by retarding crystal growth of otherwise insoluble materials. The solvent polarity is well matched to the epidermis and boosts the penetration of actives into the upper layers of the skin. Gransolve DMI is an ideal ingredient for use in elegant hair, skin and sun care products especially in anti-acne and self-tanning products. For this product alone, Grant announces the selection of Univar USA to play a primary role in promoting sales of Gransolve DMI. “Univar was selected for this special assignment because of their large scale distribution presence and proven track record in marketing similar products,” said John Gormley, a director in Grant’s personal care team. “Univar has also committed to develop new applications for dimethyl isosorbide in their new personal care applications lab being constructed in North Carolina.” “We are very pleased to enter into this alliance with Grant Industries,” said Paul Cyr, director – personal care and household & industrial cleaning for Univar. “Gransolve DMI is a great strategic fit for Univar, as we are increasing our partnerships with suppliers of sustainable products to meet customer demand in the personal care industry.”
