Two preservatives launched
Sabinsa Corporation’s R&D group has developed two new patent pending ingredient compositions with proven preservative efficacy: SabiLize-Alpha and SabiLize-Beta. These proprietary blends of natural antimicrobial actives will help meet the challenge of finding an effective natural preservative for use in cosmetics and personal care products.
Chemical company strengthens China presence
Swiss specialty chemicals company Clariant held the official opening of its new Greater China headquarters in Shanghai earlier this week (October 20, 2010). The new facility also includes a new technical application center for pigments. Clariant further announced the start-up of its new Quinacridon pigment joint venture in Hangzhou.
Distribution partnership agreed
Arizona Chemical announces a new partnership with Durae Corporation to represent their Specialty Product Division’s line of personal care ingredients for the Korean market.
IBCH increased with new facility
Rhodia has announced an increase in its IBCH* production capacity in China in conjunction with the transfer of its Wuxi plant to the group’s new industrial platform located in Zhenjiang (Jiangsu province). IBCH is used by the perfumery industry.
Quinoa protein for hair
As hair is exposed to daily stressors such as UV exposure, heat styling and frequent washing, it becomes dry and damaged. Quinoa Pro EX (INCI Name: Hydrolyzed Quinoa) is a new hydrolyzed quinoa protein from TRI-K Industries that binds to the hair shaft and penetrates the cortex bringing moisture and repair deep into the hair.
New polymer for low pH cleansers
The Lubrizol Corporation’s Noveon Consumer Specialties releases Carbopol Aqua SF-2 polymer (INCI Proposed: Acrylates Crosspolymer-X), Lubrizol’s next generation of premier rheology modifiers for cleansing formulations.
Sumitomo acquires Presperse
Sumitomo Corporation and its wholly-owned subsidiary Sumitomo Corporation of America, jointly known as Sumitomo, have entered an agreement to acquire Presperse LLC, a leading global formulator and distributor of specialty ingredients and formulated solutions for the cosmetic and personal care markets.

Sederma has launched Juvinity to fight against signs of ageing due to cell senescence. Juvinity, based on a complex lipid derived from a key molecule in the cell functionality, constitutes a new cell protection strategy in order to delay both nucleus and metabolic senescence.

Interactive system for China show
PCHi 2011 organisers have introduced a new web-based system to benefit both exhibitors and visitors. Huber Engineered Materials (HEM) has announced plans to expand silica production capacity at its manufacturing facility in Jhagadia, India. The expansion more than doubles the current capacity to a new rate of 33,000 metric tonnes per year.
