Animal testing alternative adopted
Symrise, the international fragrance and flavouring manufacturer, and Cutech Srl, the Italian biotech company, have joined forces to develop a new skin model as an alternative to animal testing.

Symrise has introduced Hydromoist L and Hydromoist O to the market, providing the international cosmetics industry with two new active ingredients.
Micro-exfoliator launched
Laboratoires Sérobiologiques, the active ingredients business of Cognis Care Chemicals, has launched an exotic cosmetic ingredient: Marajo Scrub LS 9843. It is described by the company as a new micro-exfoliator that gently softens the skin, and restores its balance and radiance. It is made from pure natural clay from the Amazon region of north Brazil, Marajo Island, where the Amazon river meets the ocean.
Ultrafine polyamide powders
The German company Degussa is launching two products as part of its Tegolon range.

To provide sensitive skin with an immediate feeling of comfort, Silab has launched Mediacalm, a neurocosmetic soothing concept.

TRI-K Industries and Kemira have introduced NanoGel, a nanoemulsion chassis system that acts as an easy-to-use base for the development of elegant cosmetics with the benefits of nanotechnology.

Pentapharm, part of DSM, has introduced Alpaflor Alp-Sebum, the new Ecocert certified Alpine treatment that reduces sebum production and the oily appearance of skin as well as the size of pores.

National Starch Personal Care has presented a technical solution designed to expand the use of inorganic UV filters in water resistance sunscreen formulations.
New actives from marine settings
BiotechMarine, the high-tech marine substances supplier, has expanded its range to include 11 new active ingredients inspired by seaweed and coastal plants.
