Product trio offers broad protection

McIntyre has launched two new preservative systems and one antimicrobial emollient engineered for formaldehyde and paraben-free formulations.

For over two decades, McIntyre Group has been a trusted manufacturer of paraben-based and formaldehyde containing preservatives with proven safety and efficacy profiles.

As a market leader, McIntyre recognises the importance of meeting the individual needs of its customers around the globe. It says it has extended its competency in the preservatives market with the addition of new products Phenagon® PBD, Mackstat® GCM and MackadermTM GCP.

In terms of efficacy, Phenagon PBD incorporates the antibacterial phenoxyethanol in combination with two organic acids known for their use as food preservatives – benzoic acid and dehydroacetic acid. Mackstat GCM and Mackaderm GCP use patent pending technologies that employ glyceryl esters with a high monoester content. The former combines glyceryl caprylate with methylisothiazolinone (MIT) providing a synergistic effect that makes this compound more efficacious than MIT alone and less sensitising than the commonly used mixtures of MIT with chloroisothiazolinone.

Mackaderm GCP consists of a glyceryl ester coupled with the safe, non-irritating and non-sensitising phenethyl alcohol.

The three products offer broad protection against gram-positive/negative bacteria, yeast and mould. The efficacy of these preservation systems is demonstrated in challenge studies available to all customers.

These new products are available in commercial quantities in the Americas, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.
