Dr Straetmans GmbH has developed a new conditioning agent which combines natural ingredient sourcing with chemical modification for best performance.
Symbio quat is a second generation liquid conditioning agent that is composed of different chemical species that combine into a product with much better performance.
By blending two natural polysaccharides of different molecular sizes and different degrees of quaternisation, the cosmetic profile was significantly improved. As in a symbiotic partnership in the animal kingdom, the different species of molecules help each in order to reach a better result. Due to their different size and structure they are able to bind to different sites on the hair to deliver an excellent performance without build-up effects. The aesthetics of the product also has been in the focus of product development. Symbio quat shows very good foaming and no tendency to give a “slimy” character to the product, as sometimes experienced with conditioning agents in shampoos.
The patented system in Symbio quat was designed with consideration of the often neglected fact that human hair varies in quality along its length. An individual with hair of 30 cm length has approximately 3 years’ old hair at the tip. In 3 years, the hair is exposed to factors such as UV irradiation, mechanical stress (combing) and chemical hair treatments. Therefore the hair quality at the tip is poorer than at the root of the hair. Symbio quat, with its unique mixture of conditioning agents, is adapted to handle different demands without overloading the hair and making it less manageable.
Dr Straetmans says that there is an increasing demand for conditioning effects to make the skin smoother and deliver a pleasant skin feel while using shower products. This field of application has also been investigated, and research has shown skin feel is improved with the use of Symbio quat in a shower gel.
