X-Rite will demonstrate how cosmetic companies are now applying advanced quality control techniques to precisely measure and control formulas for colour and appearance. Attendees of the in-cosmetics 2011 show can view demonstrations and obtain information on the new offerings at X-Rite’s stand at Q-01 of the Fiera Milano Rho.
Pre-show information may be obtained by visiting www.xrite.com or writing to Andrea Vannacchi, sales director South Europe, at avannacchi@xrite.com. Vannacci is scheduled to give a presentation titled "Advanced methods to accurately measure and communicate the colour of cosmetics" at 3:30 p.m. 30 March at the show as part of its Innovation Seminars.
Cosmetics manufacturers may be particularly interested in X-Rite's non-contact technology that measures samples from a distance. X-Rite, the world's largest designer and manufacturer of colour measurement systems, also will be demonstrating an array of optical instruments and software applications to provide inexpensive, quick and easy means by which cosmetics companies can accurately measure and communicate the subtle hues, colours, and shimmer of 21st century cosmetics.
X-Rite will show how its technology for measuring colour at a distance more closely represents the way the human eye perceives colour and ultimately how the consumer will view the finished product when it is demonstrated by sales associates in stores or used, Vannacci says.
Tests currently performed by a number of cosmetics manufacturers don't accurately replicate what the eye sees because samples are placed on cuvettes for measurements. When you add a transparent barrier between the sample and instrument, it immediately imparts errors such as depth of field issues and ambient light piped in from the surroundings.
X-Rite also will be unveiling NetProfiler 3, the latest iteration of the company's NetProfiler software that provides customers with the ability to test and validate the measurement performance of their spectrophotometers on a regular basis.
NetProfiler is used by many industrial companies worldwide to remotely adjust and certify the performance of their spectrophotometers, ensuring accurate and reliable color data is used throughout the supply chain. NetProfiler provides an easy, quick and inexpensive way to recalibrate instruments to a common standard and can be run with or without internet connectivity, allowing users to store profiles on portable memory cards with USB adapters. The software also can profile handheld devices with embedded profiling capabilities and provide.
