Enlarged pores and shininess are no longer an exclusive problem of teenagers. In fact it is a great concern among adults from different ages and all around the world. A marine biotechnological ingredient has proved to be an effective candidate to control sebum production and reduce pore size.
Teenagers’ skin is usually greasy, dull and it commonly presents spots, blackheads, enlarged pores and even acne. Acne is one of the most common skin disorders in adults, affecting 80% of individuals between 11-30 years old.1 Although with age these tend to disappear, some unlucky people have to deal with combination or oily skin during their whole life, with women more concerned about enlarged pores and acne than their partners.
Asian skin seems to have the highest lipid content in the stratum corneum (SC), a high percentage of the Latin American population presents oily and combination skin, and Southern Mediterranean and European adults are inclined to have oily skin.2 Climate and pollution may affect the production of sebum too, so that it is a major concern among people living in hot and humid environments.
