Symrise is expanding its portfolio of natural grain extracts, marketed under the name “Healthy Grains”. There are now eleven grain varieties available to the cosmetics industry for use in skin and hair care products.
In addition to traditional varieties such as oat, wheat, and white rice, Symrise is also focusing on old, forgotten “supergrains” such as amaranth, quinoa, and khorasan wheat. As part of its Extrapone Botanicals range, Symrise Life Essentials has been offering oat, wheat, and rice natural extracts for use in cosmetic products for some time now. The “Healthy Grains” products are now expanding this range considerably, adding amaranth (a millennia-old plant cultivated by the Aztecs), khorasan wheat (a grain similar to wheat, originating from Egypt), quinoa (nutritional staple of the Inca civilisation), black rice, millet, barley, rye, and spelt to the portfolio. To whet customers’ appetite for the “Healthy Grains” range and to demonstrate various application possibilities, Symrise has developed innovative product concepts that are complemented by creative and inspiring fragrances. The possible applications for the Extrapone Healthy Grains are virtually unlimited as the extracts can be used in facial, eye, and hand care products, cleansers, shower gels, shampoo and hair styling products, to name a few.
