UK firm’s Far East exports thriving

UK botanical extract company, Jarvis, has won new business from Hong Kong and Thailand, helping to boost the firm’s extract exports by more than 18% over the past 12 months.

Jarvis managing director, Quentin Jarvis (pictured), said: “We are seeing an increasing trend of overseas customers, particularly from the Far East, attracted not only by the 100% purity of our extracts but by the fact that our products are solely ‘made in the UK’. Extracts developed in the Far East are often more expensive and lack the flexibility of supply and consistent quality that we offer which makes them more difficult to use in cosmetic development.” Working out of its modern development laboratories in Suffolk, the company offers botanical extracts, cutting edge natural formulae development, and innovative production methods. Quentin Jarvis added: “Extracts is where our business began and despite the current economic climate, there are exciting opportunities for growth. We have a network of excellent distributors, but that only serves to get our name in front of customers. The Far East market is very cutthroat so we also have to rely on our responsiveness and exceptional customer service to win the business. Margins are often smaller than with UK or European business, but demand is increasing all the time.”
