At FormulaCare i-2010, which took place on 17 and 18 March in the Philippines, Cognis Care Chemicals presented a variety of innovative ideas that will help Asian manufacturers serve regional and global market trends.
The products and concepts on show will enable Cognis’ customers to improve the sustainability of their manufacturing processes and fulfill consumer demand for natural beauty products with excellent convenience benefits. In response to the growing demand from Asian consumers for improved natural looks, Cognis Care Chemicals introduced its “BB (Blemish Balm)” concept, combining the benefits of skin care products and decorative cosmetics. It supports fashionable marketing claims, such as “slim face line” and “light skin tone” benefits. This approach is based on traditional Asian ideas of beauty, while also taking into account the preference of modern urban consumers for convenient multifunctional solutions. It includes Cognis’ latest emollients, emulsifiers and skin sensory modifiers. The second formulation concept launched at FormulaCare was “Cold Process”. This is intended to help Cognis’ customers improve manufacturing operations in several aspects, e.g. energy consumption. The concept is based on ingredients and blends which do not need to be heated during the production of cosmetic emulsions – an important advantage, since cold processing increases productivity, shortens production time and reduces energy usage. Cognis believes that Asia represents an important platform for them and that the region is becoming increasingly prominent in their plans for the future. Young-Yull Kim, VP sales & marketing, Cognis Care Chemicals Asia-Pacific, commented: “Our in-depth knowledge of local and global market trends translates into a real competitive edge for our customers. Cognis is ideally positioned to help manufacturers in Asia both serve trends within the region and expand into global markets. We have recently strengthened our presence in Asia with the opening of our new affiliate in Mumbai, India – and we will take another important step forward when our new APG plant in Jinshan, China, opens in May.”
