China-based ingredients supplier, Fenchem, is to launch an organic rosemary extract with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties aimed at natural personal care formulations.
Fenchem expects certification for this ingredient to be achieved early this year, enabling the product to meet both United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Organic Program (NOP) and European Union standards.
EssenRose is produced from the leaves of organic Rosmarinus officinalis and is processed according to NOP and EU standards. Two rosemary extracts are supplied: EssenRose-OS, an oil-soluble rosemary extract rich in carnosic acid, and EssenRose-WS, which is water-soluble and rich in rosmarinic acid.
The two lines have demonstrated a high level of antioxidant and anti-ageing properties in personal care formulations. EssenRose-OS is ideal when used to protect cosmetic oils from oxidation and rancidity and therefore extending shelf life. It can be used in body lotions, sunscreens and massage oils.
Due to the anti-inflammatory activity of rosmarinic acid, EssenRose-WS is highly recommended when formulating cosmetic products for sensitive or irritated skin. It can be widely used in shampoo, perfumes and other cosmetics. Moreover, the two lines are also allergen-free, GMO-free and non-irradiation. They are ideal natural options to synthetic alternatives such as BHA and BHT.
