ISP Personal Care has announced the addition of a new sun care UV filter to its portfolio that has been designed to provide broad spectrum skin protection against damage caused by exposure to the sun.
Called Escalol S, the new ingredient offers protection from both the UVA and UVB ranges of the light spectrum in a single ingredient. The ingredient is highly photostable, assuring effective and long-lasting protection against UVA radiation. Escalol S can boost the performance and the stability of other commonly used UV filters, creating synergies that offer higher SPF ratings for UVB radiation and photostability that result in longer-lasting UVA protection. This broad spectrum functionality and synergistic effect will allow Escalol S to act as a ‘keystone’ for the broad range of ingredients that make up an effective sun care formulation. ISP has licensed the technology for bis-resorcinyl-triazine from BASF. Escalol S is easily formulated, compatible with most cosmetics ingredients and has a cosmetically elegant feel. This makes it ideal for a broad range of sun and skin care products including long-lasting sunscreens in aerosol, spray, lotion and gel forms, anti-ageing/firming creams and day creams, and multipurpose products.
