Innovation to the fore

The Dow Chemical Company showcased a wide variety of ingredients and technologies to enhance the performance and sensory properties of personal care products as part of its “Something Beautiful is Growing” theme at October’s in-cosmetics Asia trade show in Singapore.

Ingredients and technologies that featured in the Dow booth represented a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for hair care, skin care and sun care, including amines, sustainable antimicrobial solutions, conditioning polymers, dispersants, encapsulation and delivery systems, hair fixative resins, SPF boosters and waterproofing polymers. In addition, Dow’s Angus division hosted an Innovation Seminar on multifunctional amino alcohols that meet European and ASEAM directives for use in personal care and cosmetic formulations. “As regulatory requirements become increasingly strict and widespread, we are pleased to be able to continue to service our customers with highly efficient neutralising amines that have the added benefit of compliance with all current personal care and cosmetics directives and are readily available around the globe,” said Liam Doherty, global marketing manager, Angus. “The Ultra PC portfolio is the result of capital investments in a manufacturing process that helps us solve the challenges presented by our customers by providing quality chemicals that meet industry standards and are easy to incorporate into existing formulations.” Powered by the newly launched Shanghai Dow Center, the R&D centre that includes over 500 engineers and scientists working more than 80 labs for Dow’s customers in the Pacific region, this highly sophisticated R&D engine will develop innovative solutions and offer technical support for the personal care industry. It will focus on converting concepts into prototypes.
