Continuing Asian growth underlined

The International Monetary Fund predicts that Asia will continue to be the fastest developing region in the global economy this year, with local emerging markets peaking at 5% growth, points out Reed Exhibitions, organiser of in-cosmetics Asia.

The cosmetics and toiletries industry in the Asia Pacific region stood at US$74.2bn in 2008 (retail value) and market research company Euromonitor is also forecasting 5% growth in 2009 plus a further 5% increase in 2010. This trend is reflected in the current interest from potential visitors to the 2009 in-cosmetics Asia (Singapore, 13-15 October). With still some months to go, traffic to in-cosmeticsasia.com is up by 44% compared to 2008. Heading the top Asian country rankings is the show’s home market, Singapore, closely followed by India, China, Thailand, South Korea and Japan. Also up, by 19%, is the number of visiting enquiries with contact made by leading companies such as L’Oréal (China and Singapore), Johnson & Johnson (Singapore), Sara Lee (The Philippines), Shiseido (Singapore), and Avon (USA). Visitors can pre-register online and plan their visit to Singapore (www.in-cosmeticsasia.com). The show will feature a “Spotlight on Skin Whitening” conference with presentations by Croda, Shiseido and others as well as Marketing Trends presentations headlined by speakers from Euromonitor, L’Oréal, Unilever, Microsoft and other companies. Also of interest is “IMAGINE, Natural Beauty” – a feature on naturals and organics, as well as exhibitors’ Innovation Seminars.

• The in-cosmetics Group has appointed Sarah Gibson as its new exhibition manager for in-cosmetics Asia. A Chinese national, she has worked as sales manager, China, for in-cosmetics for seven years and made her mark by quadrupling the portfolio of exhibiting Asian-based manufacturing companies. Based in Singapore, she will be spearheading in-cosmetics Asia’s strategic development in the region.
