‘Revolutionary’ new clear isethionate ester

A “revolutionary” new isethionate ester for personal care products is being offered by Innospec.

The company says that, unlike other isethionate technologies on the market, the new ester, Iselux, is completely clear yet still allows formulators to create exceptionally elegant products that reproduce the lathering feel of a luxury beauty bar. At the same time, this innovative sulfate-free surfactant is mild and kind to the skin. Iselux is expected to be used in ultra-mild clear shampoos, shower gels, hand and facial cleansers and luxury foam bath products. It can be used as either a primary or secondary surfactant and it is ideal for formulating products that require dense, luxurious and long-lasting foam with an elegant after-feel. The foam produced is comparable to that of sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI) in that the bubbles are very dense and equivalent to sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES) in terms of flash foam and foam stability. The Iselux technology ensures the cleansing product rinses away easily and is not sticky when dry, leaving the skin feeling smooth.
