Development prospects of vegan collagen

Chinese ingredient maker Jinbo Bio-Pharma explains the necessity to develop bio-fermented vegan collagen for personal care formulations

In the global skin care and oral beauty market, ever more plant and animal collagen are used. Strictly speaking, plant collagen is not a real collagen, because it is merely a glycoprotein or a polysaccharide.

Meanwhile, animal collagen has many problems, such as its limited source, complex composition, difficult-to-isolate target protein, uneven batches of raw materials, the fact they contain certain immunogenic components and carry viruses such as mad cow disease, water soluble difficulty, and religious issues. Therefore, it can be said that it is necessary to develop a third generation of collagen: bio-fermented vegan collagen.

In the beauty industry, biotechnology raw materials are loved by consumers, and the product we talk about here, i.e. vegan collagen, also comes from biological fermentation technology.
