Mumbai played host in November to in-cosmetics India (formerly PCHi), the leading exhibition and conference in India for personal care and homecare ingredients.
Out of the 91 exhibitors present at the show, 61% were international companies such as Clariant, Cognis, Croda, Dow Corning, Gattefossé, Lowenstein Jos H & Sons, and Solabia. The Indian industry also enjoyed strong representation with exhibitors including Arihant Trading, Connell Bros, Galaxy Surfactants and Neelikon.
The show’s highlight was a two-day conference organised in association with ISCC (the Indian Society of Cosmetic Chemists).
Split into four sections, the conference addressed Wellness (“The New Personal Care Mantra”), Formulating, Skin Whitening/Lightening and Anti-Ageing/Skin Protection.
Among the 25 experts who presented at the conference were Dr Blossom Kochhar, who spoke on the role of essential oils in promoting wellness, Dr Pushker Sona from Unilever, who discussed the “New Directions in Personal Care Formulations” and Gavin E. Greenoak from the Australian Photobiology Testing Facility who covered “The Sun In India – The Asian Beauty”.
This year’s Innovations Seminars (also presented over both days) gave visitors the opportunity to discover the latest products marketed by the show’s exhibitors. Topics covered included surfactants, solubilisers, oil emulsifiers, polymers and nutri-strategies.
Reed Exhibitions said at-show research revealed that in-cosmetics India visitors were satisfied with the event (93% of the total) and were keen to repeat their visit next year (88%). As regards exhibitors, the great majority were satisfied with in-cosmetics India, with 91% stating that they had met their commercial objectives.
