Formulate Asia (30-31 October 2008) is being organised by the Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrance Association of Singapore and the Society of Cosmetic Scientists Singapore which have joined forces with the aim of bringing together a blend of marketing and science perspectives to enable formulators in the Asia Pacific region to gain a better understanding of product development.
Day 1 will cover topics such as:
- The product development process – this subject will be presented by a member of the development team of a multinational cosmetic manufacturer.
- Cosmethics – an overview of safety, regulatory requirements, intellectual property, efficacy and export principles presented by Dr Alain Khaiat.
- Understanding emulsion formulation and technologies – provided will be a comprehensive description of emulsions and related manufacturing processes in order to fine tune stability and scale up.
The presentation will be by Chantal Amalric.
Other topics to be addressed on Day 1 will be rheology modifiers, emulsifier systems,
and choosing the correct emollient. Day 2 will be a hands-on laboratory session. This will be held at Singapore Polytechnic laboratories to allow participants to apply what they have learned in the previous day.
The workshop is primarily for cosmetic formulators and interested professionals from the cosmetic industry not just in Singapore but also in the surrounding region.
