Hair care focus in Bangkok

in-cosmetics Asia will play a pivotal role in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region becoming the largest hair care market by 2022 as it announces a major focus on hair care actives at this year’s event that opens on 30 October in Bangkok.

According to GlobalData’s latest figures, increased demand from consumers in China, Malaysia, the Philippines and India will be the driving force behind the burgeoning APAC haircare market. And with people across the region placing more importance on hair health, there is now a huge opportunity for manufacturers to grow their sales by developing on-trend, innovative products.

Hair health in the spotlight

According to market research carried out by Kantar TNS, 50% of consumers worldwide consider their hair to be damaged, dry, lifeless or limp. And in Asia – where there are constant challenges due to the heat and humidity – frizzy, greasy hair is common, while increased awareness of the effect of pollution is creating a surge in demand for anti-pollution haircare products in China and India, as reported by Euromonitor International.

in-cosmetics Asia’s Spotlight On Haircare Actives area is designed to help cosmetic chemists and marketers easily locate unique ingredients that will enable them to develop innovative products which deliver tangible benefits to hair health. And, Sumit Chopra, Director Research Analysis, GlobalData will give a special Marketing Trends & Regulation seminar on 30 October which will give attendees an exclusive look into future haircare trends and highlight the opportunities available to manufacturers.

Among those showcasing haircare actives at in-cosmetics Asia will be:

• DSM Nutritional Products which will showcase Pentavitin, its 100% natural, plant-derived ingredient – with both ECOCERT approval and NATRUE certification –  that works as a soothing active for rinse-off products to deeply hydrate the scalp and relieve sensitivity

• Gattefossé Asia Pacific which will highlight how Definicire™ recreates the natural hair protective lipid layer for frizz control, volume control, curl definition and hold even under high humidity

• Solvay Specialty Chemicals Asia Pacific which will present its POLYCARE® SPLIT THERAPY, a naturally-derived hair care active that mends split ends effectively with an unparalleled repair rate of more than 90% after one application

Meanwhile, for brands looking to develop innovative anti-pollution haircare products, Xin Qu from Ashland LLC will host a technical seminar on ‘Protecting hair and scalp from the stress of urban living’ at in-cosmetics Asia on 1 November.

Sarah Gibson, event director of in-cosmetics Asia, commented: “There has never been more awareness of the importance of caring for hair, which presents a fantastic opportunity to beauty brands. Asian consumers have a unique set of challenges when it comes to looking after their hair and they are now demanding innovative products that can minimise fizziness and improve overall hair health. Our Spotlight On Haircare Actives will enable R&D and marketing teams source the world’s newest and most innovative ingredients, helping them tap into the latest trends.”

in-cosmetics Asia takes place at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre from 30 October to 1 November 2018. Registration for this year’s event is free of charge and can be completed via http://asia.in-cosmetics.com/register.
