Reducing men’s wrinkles

In answer to a constant increase in men’s grooming products, Sederma has conducted a new clinical study on men to compare the benefits obtained with Matrixyl 3000 vs. placebo.

Matrixyl 3000 is a matrikine combination to recreate conditions conducive to cell and matrix turnover. Matrikines are small endogenous peptides derived from matrix proteolysis.

They act as cell messengers able to regulate the sequence of events required for skin repair (wound healing). To a certain degree, wrinkles may be considered localised defects due to deficient repair related to the ageing of the cutaneous functions of tissue repair and turnover.

The effectiveness of Matrixyl 3000 formulated at 4% was tested in vivo on two panels of 24 men, with a mean age of 54.5 ± 6 years. After a two-month daily application on half-face, visible results were observed. A decrease in the area occupied by deep wrinkles (>200 µm) (-29.4%), gives a rise to a decrease in density (-30.4%).
