The 2014 SCS Formulate was held on 11-12 November in Coventry, UK, and once again attracted a record attendance. Organisers, Step Exhibitions, announced that the show saw 978 attendees (up from 916 in 2013) make the trip to the Ricoh Arena, with a particularly strong showing for the free seminars. This aspect of the event has become increasingly important over recent years thanks to some excellent speakers and cutting-edge topics.

These well-attended sessions gave a great insight into the latest developments in cosmetic formulation from some of the leading ingredients suppliers as well as finished product manufacturers.
On the first day, Nikki Williams of Rodial Group, discussed the evolving nature of the male grooming market and how to keep one step ahead. Men’s attitude towards personal grooming has evolved a great deal in recent years, which actually resulted in a slowdown in sales growth in 2013 as a more relaxed approach took hold, especially in relation to facial hair. Brands now need to become more savvy and willing to adapt quickly to this market in order to stay in touch with competitors across the globe.
