The 2014 IFSCC Congress was held in Paris from the 27-30 October at the Palais des Congrès. The event was formally opened by IFSCC and Société Française de Cosmétologie (SFC) President Claudie Willemin, who said in her opening speech that the aim was to study the science behind cosmetology, thereby taking on board the psychology of cosmetics alongside traditional disciplines such as chemistry and biology, as well as newer areas such as neurocosmetics.
The 2014 event had as a theme ‘Cosmetic innovation and performance for beauty and well-being’, and the excellent programme certainly delivered in addressing this theme. The IFSCC Congress attracted 743 abstract submissions from 34 countries, and from those, 72 podium presentations were selected to cover the key congress themes of Beauty & Life Sciences, Beauty & Society, Beauty & Colour, Beauty & Sensoriality, Beauty & Surface Shield, and Beauty & Protective Strategies.
More than 460 posters were also presented during the three days of the Congress and the exhibition brought together 50+ international companies who were able to present their latest technology to Congress delegates.
