A two-day seminar in London hosted by the CTPA on 7-8 May at the Royal College of Physicians will focus on practical examples of where difficulties in implementation may lie: covering supply, labelling divergences and responsibilities – including those of the distributor.
CTPA experts will provide updates on the Cosmetic Product Notification Portal (CPNP), nanomaterials, borderline issues and common criteria for claims; while Richard Knight, lead officer for cosmetics at Trading Standards, will provide insight on enforcement of key areas. The European Cosmetics Regulation, EC 1223/2009, was fully implemented on 11 July 2013 and CTPA inputted to all the Commission groups working on major areas of change and guidance. As a Regulation directly applicable across Europe, harmonisation would be expected however Member States have different interpretations which means it is important to understand your market.
The first Amendment to the Regulation is already in the planning. What could this affect: CPNP? Reporting of SUEs? Nanomaterials? What effect will the looming European Parliament elections have? Dr Gerald Renner (director, Technical Regulatory Affairs, Cosmetics Europe) will advise attendees on what may be next.
An important event for all companies involved in the industry – manufacturers, brand owners, distributors and retailers, CTPA members and non-members. CTPA is the UK trade association for the manufacturers and suppliers of cosmetic and personal care products and an active member of the European trade association, Cosmetics Europe.
