Merck Chemicals China announced that its Pigments & Cosmetics Technology Application Network China (TANC) has opened in Shanghai.
The TANC was established to better meet the growing needs of Chinese customers in the pigments and cosmetics sectors. “We are dedicated to providing highly performing products and application-specific technical and customer support to our customers,” Inese Lowenstein, senior vice president of the Merck Pigments & Cosmetics Business Unit, said at the opening ceremony. “China is one of the most dynamic and important markets in the world for Merck’s pigments & cosmetics business. With the opening of the TANC, we will be able to bring innovative products to our Chinese customers more quickly and effectively.” The TANC evolved from the Merck China Customer Support Centre, which was established at Fudan University in 1998, starting with just simple printing applications. The centre moved into Merck China’s Songjiang Site in 2008, offering basic services for plastic, printing, coating and cosmetic applications. After the current expansion, the TANC will be able to offer colour proposals based on powdercoating technology as well as SPF (Sun Protection Factor) testing to customers in China. Through upgraded chromameters and microscopes, Merck will provide more accurate and comprehensive recommendations to customers on colour matching and analyses.
