CLR has announced the addition of a skin lightening agent to its range of ingredients for formulators producing natural cosmetics. Belides ORG, obtained from organic daisy flowers, has been found to produce a strong inhibitory effect on melanogenesis.
In vitro tests on melanocytes have shown that Belides ORG controls transcription of tyrosinase expression, thus inhibiting its synthesis. In addition, Belides ORG has been found to significantly inhibit the peptide hormone, endothelin, which is released by stimulated keratinocytes and induces melanin synthesis via specific melanocyte receptors.
The depigmenting activity of Belides ORG is based on cumulative effects produced by different mechanisms such as reduction of:
• Tyrosinase activity and expression.
• Endothelin expression.
• α-MSH binding capacity on the MC-1 receptor.
• Melanosome transfer.
• Melanin formation.
In vivo tests have shown that Belides ORG has a significant skin lightening effect and reduces the colour intensity of age spots.
Belides ORG is certified by Ecocert Greenlife according to the Ecocert Standard for Natural and Organic Cosmetics and Natrue-certified.
