Dow Polyurethanes, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company has announced the addition of Optim synthetic glycerine to its propylene glycol (PG) business portfolio.
The products, previously sold through Safechem Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of Dow, were transitioned to the business earlier this year. Dow synthetic glycerine offers customers a minimum of 99.7% purity and the stability, consistency and service options desired by customers for formulating in demanding and highly regulated applications. Glycerine is a colourless, odourless, watersoluble and sweet-tasting liquid that is used in many of the same applications as propylene glycol, including personal care products. Compared to natural glycerine, which comes from vegetable or animal sources, Dow’s synthetic glycerine products offer distinct advantages, including: high and consistent purity, no odour formation, and excellent stability with a shelf life of 24 months.
