Now in its 22nd year, in-cosmetics will be taking place in Barcelona for the first time since 2006, and the event is ideally positioned to provide an insight into the emerging trends set to take the industry by storm.
Barcelona’s architectural landscape effortlessly marries technology and design, providing in-cosmetics with the perfect backdrop for innovation in the beauty sector. The e5 billion Spanish cosmetic market is one of the most rapidly evolving in Europe, so it is no surprise that Barcelona’s Gran Via exhibition centre was chosen to host the personal care ingredients event in-cosmetics 2012 from April 17-19. The Catalan capital is one of Europe’s most popular beach destinations - a place of sun, sea and sand – making it the ideal location for the event, which boasts ‘Solar Beauty’ as one of its main themes. As part of the in focus feature, the event organisers will bring the beach to visitors by creating an indoor, man-made stretch of sand at the venue, providing a perfect location to enjoy refreshments and relaxed networking opportunities. Also present will be a beachside photo gallery, illustrating the evolution of sun care advertising over the last sixty years, as well as a skin clinic highlighting the damage that exposure to the sun can cause. Despite the fact that the event is still a few months away at the time of writing, nearly four hundred exhibitors have already signed up to showcase their most diverse range of cosmetic ingredients and technologies. Leading personal care specialists from all over the world will gather to showcase and discuss the latest industry innovations and developments with the aim of informing and inspiring visitors looking to create new products. Major industry players such as Croda, Gattefossé and Rhodia will all have a presence at the event, as will leading companies from all over the world, including China, Japan and the US. The Spanish market is also well represented with companies such as Chemir S.A and Cobissa Industrias Asociadas S.L in attendance. Cathy Laporte, group marketing manager at in-cosmetics, commented: “The 2012 show will be a must attend event for anyone who works in the beauty industry. For three days, key industry figures will be under the same roof at the Gran Via, offering insights into scientific advances and emerging markets, as well as contributing to an unrivalled education programme which has earned a reputation for imparting industry expertise. Barcelona is both a beautiful and culturally vibrant city, which is blessed with sunny beaches, making it the ideal location to host an event which will emphasise the importance of looking beautiful and staying safe in the sun.” Other highlights at in-cosmetics include the hugely popular Innovation Zone presenting some of the latest ingredients launched by exhibitors and the most innovative beauty products selected by Mintel Beauty Innovation; this will also include the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award which recognises the most innovative and original ingredients on show; Innovation Seminars will highlight the latest products to hit the market and those soon to be released; Workshops, Scientific Seminars and Marketing Trends presentations will be delivered by industry experts on the latest topics on the industry agenda; plus Regulatory Seminars will provide crucial insights into the latest European and Chinese legislation. CONNECT, an online community tool will also be available at in-cosmetics 2012. It provides exhibitors and pre-registered visitors with a diary, a detailed search facility and a fully integrated email system to network and arrange meetings. Users can also add a personal profile and save seminars, products or any other website contents of interest to their favourites. This will prove to be an invaluable tool for visitors and exhibitors visiting the show.
Marketing Trends
in-cosmetics will analyse solar beauty and social commerce as part of its free Marketing Trends programme at this year’s Barcelona event. Taking place from 17-19 April 2012, 13 presentations, panel discussions and live interviews led by industry experts will provide an analysis of the current personal care ingredients market, while looking at areas of potential growth. Speakers headlining include representatives from The King of Shaves Ltd, Future-Touch and Wendy Lewis & Co Ltd, alongside market research agencies such as Euromonitor, Mintel, Datamonitor and Organic Monitor. Cathy Laporte said: “The Marketing Trends presentations have historically drawn in a high number of visitors who are keen to source new marketing ideas to set themselves apart from the competition. This year’s exciting line-up of presentations will offer new insights and enable delegates to build on their current knowledge of the industry.”
