“Beautyworld JAPAN 2009” was held recently at the Tokyo BIC site and featured exhibitors from 23 countries and regions, writes Kunio Shimada of NOF Corporation.
Over 50,000 visitors attended in a three-day period. Of considerable new prominence was a focus on nail art, which is currently popular in Japan. Also highlighted were vegetable and marine organism ingredients for cosmetics. Materials such as apple polyphenol, sparkling wine with a restorative function, and clay with purification and restorative actions were exhibited. For the first time, there was a French exhibition area. Imported French cosmetics are significant in Japan, and, notably, perfume and eau de toilette from French companies hold a 52% share of the Japanese market.
