Brazilian personal care ingredient maker Apoena Biotech has launched Apobio Film, a biofilm-forming postbiotic product for hair and skin care said to provide 72-hour moisturizing action.
Produced from the fermentation of probiotic bacteria, it is rich in polysaccharides and fructooligosaccharides, which prevent transepidermal water loss.
Apobio Film forms a protective film on the hair surface. This barrier retains moisture within the hair, prolonging hydration and preventing dryness.
DSC measurements indicate a shift in the peak water vaporization temperature from 64.80 to 84.30°C, meaning a 30% increase in Apobio Film's anti-drying efficacy compared to the control group.
On the skin, Apobio Film acts as a guardian of the skin's barrier, enhancing water retention within cells and providing instant hydration.
A clinical trial confirmed the product's efficacy with a 58% increase in hydration and a 15% decrease in skin water loss. This results in immediate and profound hydration lasting up to 72 hours.
In vitro tests reveal Apobio Film's skin soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. Additionally, the active ingredient shows promise in controlling oiliness, as evidenced by a 66.7% reduction in the expression of the enzyme 5-α-reductase responsible for this effect.
