Effect pigment manufacturer Eckart has taken the wraps off LignoBase, a multifunctional cosmetic ingredient based on lignin.
The German firm says LignoBase contains antioxidants that help to fight free radicals, which are responsible for the signs of skin ageing.
LignoBase is available in three different shades, making it ideal for tinted creams and make-up products.
This versatility ensures that cosmetic brands can cover a wide range of skin tones and preferences.
LignoBase products are also very effective UV protection boosters.
Sun protection filters are currently coming under increasing criticism; fewer and fewer products are available.
“LignoBase offers a safe and effective alternative here - the ideal choice for formulating sunscreens and creams with SPF,” said an Eckart spokeswoman.
“If LignoBase has contact with water during activities such as swimming, the lignin particles responsible for sun protection sink and do not have a negative effect on the water or the environment,” she added.
