Dr. Jennifer Marsh has won the 2025 Maison G. deNavarre Medal Award, the highest honour given by the US Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) to an individual for their technical contributions.
Marsh, a Brit who received her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Oxford, has been with Procter & Gamble since 1995 in roles including principal scientist, Research Fellow and leader of technology development for hair care.
Procter & Gamble has hailed Marsh as the “chemistry genius” behind some of the ingredients in its hair care range, including Pantene's Pro-V antioxidant nutrients and Herbal Essences bio:renew products.
The award also recognizes Marsh's activities in supporting the best interests of the cosmetic industry through her various technical contributions, which include more than 50 hair care and hair colour patents and authoring four books.
Marsh's work also includes 30+ speaking engagements, 72 technical publications, six poster presentations, and being the recipient of 14 prestigious industry awards.
“This year, the society is presenting its highest honor to Jennifer Marsh, PhD, in recognition of her industry expertise and contributions to advancing cosmetic science,” said SCC chief executive Erica O’Grady.
“We are pleased to formally recognize all that she has accomplished during her exceptional career and more than 18 years of membership in SCC,” she added.

- Robert A. Kramer Lifetime Service Award: Mindy S. Goldstein
The awards will be presented during the SCC’s 79th Annual Scientific Meeting & Showcase on 16-17 December at the Sheraton New York Times Square.

The SCC has meanwhile awarded Luis Mejia of Estee Lauder its Green Star award for his formulation, Aveda Abundant Blowout Volumizing Spray.
This submission received the highest Green Star rating for delivering a formula optimized for renewable, biodegradable, non-toxic, and otherwise sustainable materials, as well as for the efficiency and eco-friendliness of the production process, and the sustainability of its packaging.
The SCC also awarded an honorable mention to formulator Chris Rosenthal of Enviromedica for his submission, Ancient Minerals – Mineral Deodorant Cream, for its innovative format and thoughtful formulation, which delivers in both product efficacy and sustainability.
