Advances in lipid science for hair care

Advances in lipid science are pushing the boundaries in hair care, writes Vrushali Patil of Indian company VAV Life Sciences, which develops and manufactures lecithins and phospholipids from soya, egg and synthetic origin

Lipids are biomolecules that make up a small part of the composition of human hair. Nevertheless, they play an important role in keeping hair healthy, influencing shine, feel, manageability, and strength.

The quest for natural, effective ingredients for hair-care formulations has led the industry to delve deeper into understanding lipids. The advances in lipid technology today are paving the way for transformational breakthroughs in hair care. At the heart of this technology lies two interesting ingredients – phospholipids and lecithins.

Lecithins and phospholipids in their functional form are unique ingredients, due to their characteristics and properties. Versatile and characterized by total safety and skin compatibility, they can be used in a variety of hair care formulations that can aid in regenerating and maintaining good quality hair.
