US outfit Glen Mills is highlighting its Kakuhunter centrifugal planetary mixer for mixing and degassing of creams and ointments.
Glen Mills says the Kakuhunter class of high energy blenders is designed for uniform blending of difficult viscous liquids and pastes.
The rapid mixing of powders into the liquid/paste is achieved due to intense motions at over 2,200 rpm.
When there are entrained gasses in the liquids/pastes, the Kakuhunter can be used to expel the bubbles both by the motion alone or enhanced with a vacuum option. Chillers help protect from heat damage.
The Kakuhunter line starts with a 300ml single container unit, up to models holding two containers of 10,000 ml each loaded up to 10 kg of materials for a 20 kg total.
“For the more sophisticated consumer, the unit is extremely automated. Ten preset recipes are loaded for quick setup then up to 90 custom programmes can be stored for quick access,” a spokesman said.
“Each run can have up to five steps so mixing, blending, and degassing steps can be resolved sequentially,” he added.
The Kakuhunter centrifugal planetary mixer is available for rental to test at customer’s site and some trials can be run at Glen Mills Inc. in New Jersey.
