Seppic has launched Cosmetic Mixology, a duo of “robust and sensorial” formulations to tap into the home-made cosmetics trend.
The launch includes two formulas with different sensory characteristics: a creamy base and a gel-cream base.
The French specialty ingredients supplier said the former offers stability and robustness by its Montanov 202 emulsifier and two polymers - Solagum AM & Sepimax Zen - to enhance the formula's resistance to electrolyte-rich actives.
The formula also contains Emogreen L15, an emollient for sensory comfort and Aquaxyl, an essential sugar-based moisturizing agent.
The gel-cream base features the Solagum Tara & Sepimax Zen polymer pairing to strengthen the formula's resistance to electrolyte-rich actives with three additional ingredients: Emogreen L19, an emollient for sensory comfort, Sepifine BB, a texturizing agent to provide softness and Aquaxyl.
The two formula bases can be customized with active ingredients that are easy to find at home to meet various applications such as face care, hair care and body care.
To ensure the robustness of the final formulas, the two chassis were tested with ten home-made active ingredients such as lemon juice, coffee grounds and pomegranate vinegar with different profiles (viscosity, pH, presence of electrolytes, solubility).
“Consumers have taken to making their own beauty recipes to take care of their skin and hair,” said Seppic.
“Our two formulas have been designed taking into account the current needs of consumers for minimalist formulas and their requirements for high naturalness and safety for human health.”
