Switzerland’s Rahn will formally launch two new ingredients at in-cosmetics Global in Paris on 5-7 April.
Radicare-Eco is based on rosmarinic acid from lemon balm, young shoots of barley grass and α-glucosyl hesperidin, which are all sourced via a climate-neutral production and supply chain. It is described as a powerful antioxidant that is “inspired by sophisticated protection mechanisms” found in these ingredients
The ingredient forms a non-occlusive shield against urban pollution and protects hair and scalp against environmental stress. Ex vivo studies have revealed highly significant inhibition of keratin oxidation in all hair layers, while hair integrity was improved without the weighing down effect seen in conventional conditioner treatment. The gloss of bleached and chlorine-stressed hair was also protected.
In addition, Rahn states that Radicare-Eco intensifies the colour tone in hair dyes. In vitro studies have shown that it significantly inhibits ROS-induced damage. By means of effective radical scavenging, cells in a monolayer and a 3D skin model were able to maintain their viability and proliferation, while cellular death was reduced.
Myramaze-Essence, meanwhile, is a ‘sensocosmetic’ active ingredient based on a carbon-neutral extract from the ‘resurrection plant’, Myrothamnus flabellifolia. In vitro studies have shown that it works by activating the bitter taste receptors on keratinocytes in the skin and nose. This relax both skin and mind and reinstates the skin’s natural glow.
Rahn says that Myramaze-Essence has five triggers: “it balances facial hydration, reduces redness, brightens, reduces roughness and increases shine. In addition, the skin barrier is strengthened, and the skin becomes more elastic. The lips become plumper and wrinkles on the lips as well as on the skin are reduced.”
