Organic cosmetics show upswing in sales

The newly published special edition of the Naturkosmetik Jahresreport 2019, the annual report about natural and organic cosmetics, focuses on five subject areas with a view towards analysis, impulses andprospects for the organic cosmetics industry.

The special edition, in a compact format of 61 pages, looks at news from retail, assortments and new brands as well as consumer insights and states future theses accordingly. The long-established annual review has also been expanded with trade-related findings from trend
and lifestyle research as well as mega trends. 

“In times of increasing uncertainty, more than ever before the natural and organic cosmetics industry is dependent on sound knowlege from the past and present“, explains Mirja Eckert, Founder. “The Jahresreport offers its readers orientation on these subjects. It helps organisations to understand today what the natural and organic cosmetics industry will need to deal with during these challenging times. In the industry and retail, adjustments to the changes in the market will need to be made in order to sustainably persist successfully. This adaptation will create security during times of uncertainty.“

The available evaluations for the year 2019 already distinctly show the following: organic cosmetics continue to be in an upswing. During the past year, a growth in sales of organic cosmetics could be witnessed, and, according to GfK, more than 800,000 new customers were gained. Foremost it was the changing consumption habits that led to this positive development. Ethical and social-ecological purchasing criteria are becoming increasingly significant. Initial analyses about the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic will be made available with the publication of the half-year figures for organic cosmetics in August 2020.
