Borate-free cationic guar

Previously found in Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, borates are now listed in Annex II (banned substances) following an opinion issued by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety SCCS.

As a result, from 12 June 2019, the date on which this Regulation came into force, borates may no longer be contained in cosmetic products.

For over 60 years, the Swiss company Polygal AG, which specialises in hydrocolloids, has been focusing on the naturalness and sustainability of its products, including the new Polycos series for cationic guar, INCI designation: Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, which contains absolutely no boron or borate compounds.

These new Polycos grades have been proven to be excellent conditioning polymers for use in hair and body care products compared to existing raw materials on the market without performance limitations in the application or adaptation of formulation and production processes.
