Micro-exfoliator launched

Laboratoires Sérobiologiques, the active ingredients business of Cognis Care Chemicals, has launched an exotic cosmetic ingredient: Marajo Scrub LS 9843. It is described by the company as a new micro-exfoliator that gently softens the skin, and restores its balance and radiance. It is made from pure natural clay from the Amazon region of north Brazil, Marajo Island, where the Amazon river meets the ocean.

Rich in mineral salts, such as iron, aluminum, potassium, calcium, boron, and sulfur, this exotic kaolin source is said to revitalise and smoothe the skin. The raw material conforms to the Ecocert standard for ecological and organic cosmetics. Marajo Scrub is suitable for face and body scrubs, purifying treatments for problem skin, scalp exfoliating treatments for dandruffprone hair, and bar and liquid soap formulations.

The product contains no preservative. It is a white to grey powder, its dose of use is 3% to 5%, and it is dispersible in water and oils. w At the 54th SEPAWA congress in Wuerzburg, Germany, Cognis Care Chemicals and Laboratoires Sérobiologiques presented a selection of ingredients and concepts designed to offer “a combination of ‘green’ products that also deliver outstanding performance”. These include products based on natural source ingredients such as shea butter and extracts of tea plant and aloe vera.
