Distributor awarded sustainable logistics recognition

IMCD has announced that it is the first distributor to be presented with the prestigious Lean & Green Award in Spain. The Lean & Green initiative is a European programme for sustainable logistics, supporting companies in their efforts to achieve a sustainable improvement in mobility.

IMCD received this award following its submission of an audited and approved action plan to significantly reduce its carbon footprint emissions over a five-year period.

As a member of the Lean & Green program, IMCD Spain set the goal of achieving a 20% reduction in its CO2 emissions by the year 2020. Already by the end of 2017, IMCD was able to reduce its carbon footprint by almost 10%. “This is tangible proof of IMCD’s commitment to sustainability,” says, Jacobo López-Riobóo, Supply Chain & HSEQ Manager from IMCD Spain. “As we are an asset-light company, we have had the challenging task in exploring opportunities for CO2 reduction. We focused on how we could deliver improvements through our role as the ‘orchestrator’ in the supply chain. This award is a true testament to our continuous efforts to improve our business in all possible ways.”

Stan Bijsterveld, director Supply Chain from IMCD Group said: “Lean & Green is the leading programme for sustainable logistics in Europe. It encourages companies to not only take measures that save costs, but that they also reduce their environmental impact. We are proud to work on this project that will optimise our logistics processes. We are very pleased to receive this award, but for us, our main objective has always been to take responsibility as we look to reduce the environmental effect we have within our distribution network."
