Cargill Beauty presented its latest bio-polymer innovation at in-cosmetics Asia, a universal texturiser called Actigum VSX 20. This ingredient has an INCI name of Sclerotium Gum (and) Xanthan Gum and is manufactured through biofermentation, ensuring it is sustainable (certified by Cosmos), safe, simple, versatile and affordable.
It offers thickening and stabilising properties, with very high tolerance to pH, temperature and electrolytes with luxurious sensory qualities. Actigum VSX 20 is also a powerful suspending agent with versatility as suitable for both leave-on and rinse-off applications. It is also suitable for sprayable systems.
The new ingredient was featured in one of Cargill Beauty’s two finished product concepts, BB Cream, along with Agri-Pure AP-80 and AP-20.
These concepts showcased the ability of nature-derived polymers to offer face care and hair styling solutions.
The other concept presented at the show was a hair styling gel which features Cargill Beauty’s Satiagel VPC 512 ingredient, an optimised combination of carrageenans and this offers 100% naturederived thickening and stabilising in clear gels.
Nature-derived ingredients are increasingly sought-after by consumers looking for products formulated with identified ingredients with a known origin and a known impact after use.
