in-cosmetics Korea, returning to Seoul from 20-22 June and run by Reed Exhibitions, will feature brand new Product Trails designed to help cosmetic manufacturers identify the hottest trends and ingredients in the personal care industry.
The Trails will focus on the biggest growth areas in the sector – Natural Actives, Moisturisers and Anti-Ageing and Anti-Wrinkle. With 30 products showcased, the Trails will be signposted at the show to help cosmetic chemists and R&D teams efficiently navigate their way around the floor.
The best in natural
Some of the most innovative natural ingredients will form part of the Natural Actives Trail, which is supported by Personal Care magazine. A host of active botanical or marine extracts for application within personal care product formulation will be showcased. Among the most exciting concepts on display will be:
• BioSpectrum Inc‘s EMortal Pep for hair. Made from pisum sativum, this natural active protects hair cells by promoting collagen synthesis and stimulates hair growth by inhibiting TGF-β1 in dermal papilla cells.
• Easyliance, an instant skin tightener by Givaudan Active Beauty that combines high hydrolysed biopolymer and acacia gum, giving a tightening and lifting effect.
• A PEG-free emulsifier from Gattefossé called Emulium mellifera MB that provides active moisturisation and comfort to the skin as well as pollution protection.
The latest in moisturisers
With weather conditions and stress playing havoc with consumer skin care regimes, beauty products that claim to hydrate and moisturise have never been more in demand, according to Mintel. The products within the Cosmetics Design Asia-sponsored –Moisturisers Trail can be formulated into products that smooth, soften, rehydrate, treat and/or protect the skin. Some of the most innovative products on display will be:
• AQUAXYL by Seppic that offers the 3D hydration hydraconcept for the circulation of moisture throughout all skin layers and boosting of hyaluronic acid. The skin barrier is reinforced in 24 hours by limiting water loss.
• Soline Bio from Laboratoires Expanscience, which offers dual activity through the activation of PPARα receptor that replenishes lipids and soothes skin.
• Phytocollagen by Macrocare Tech Ltd – a fermented soybean-derived product by a strain of Bacillus sp. It moisturises skin and contains strong anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant and soothing agents.
Innovations in anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle
The Anti-Ageing/Anti-Wrinkle Trail will focus on one of the fastest-growing markets in personal care. Cleansers, moisturisers and natural products are all driving growth, according to Shannon Romanowski, Director - Health, Household, Beauty & Personal Care at Mintel. She said: “Asian skincare inspired products and no-rinse cleansing are drawing consumer interest. Appealing to men and women aged 18-34, Hispanics and ageing boomers will be instrumental to driving future growth.” Stand-out ingredients in this Trail, sponsored by Beautynury, include:
• ActivNEO-PEP by ActivON. CO. Ltd. – a biological ingredient with an anti-ageing effect through collagen synthesis. It is also effective for wound healing.
• Glycacid ECO by WOOSUNG CNT, derived from white throat mushroom and shiitake mushroom, moisturises and improves wrinkle appearance.
• ECTOIN by DKSH that reduces skin ageing by enhancing hydration and nourishment when faced with harmful factors such as UV.
