Award for innovation contribution

The 2017 American Cleaning Institute (ACI) Annual Meeting and Industry Convention at the end of January in Orlando saw Innospec awarded for best-in-class performance by Henkel.

The award for “Best Innovation Contributor – Beauty Care” was presented to Innospec in recognition of “substantial contribution to the development of a sulfate-free shampoo platform with outstanding performance”, according to Henkel.

Innospec is well-known for its sulfate-free technologies, bringing to market a comprehensive range of surfactants for mild, gentle and effective cleansing. Innospec identified the trend towards sulfate-free back in 2009 and has continuously developed and innovated to create desirable, high performance ingredients and formulations for hair and skin applications.

Innospec’s collaboration with Henkel addressed improving foam quality to match, and even surpass, conventional shampoo formulations. Innospec developed a new platform for Henkel’s Fiber Force formulas based on a combination of taurates, glycosides and betaines.  Thomas Förster, Henkel’s Corporate Vice President R&D Beauty Care presented a compelling side-by-side demonstration video showing the superior foam quantity and quality of the Innospec formulation.  Henkel Beauty Care has stated that it will be adopting this technology across its entire line of professional sulfate-free products.

Bruce McDonald, President of Innospec Performance Chemicals, welcomed the award saying: “We are truly delighted to receive this prestigious accolade and would like to thank Henkel for the opportunity to collaborate. We are very proud of the work we did with Henkel and it demonstrates, once again, that the research and development work we do at Innospec is truly world-class.”
