Vitamin A plant in progress

BASF has started planning for the construction of a new worldscale plant for vitamin A in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The new facility will increase BASF’s total annual production capacity of vitamin A by 1,500 metric tonnes. Reference value for this amount is vitamin A acetate with 2.8 million International Units.

With the planned investment BASF wants to ensure long-term supply of its customers and to meet the growing demand of the market. The new worldscale vitamin A plant is scheduled to come on-stream in 2020.

“We can make optimal use of our resources by fully integrating the new production facility into BASF’s production Verbund. This significant investment also emphasises the competitive position of the Ludwigshafen site,” said Michael Heinz, member of the Board of Executive Directors, BASF SE.

“A new world-scale plant will empower us to even better support our customers’ growth plans with high supply reliability and superior product quality,” said Saori Dubourg, president BASF Nutrition & Health.
