This 25th edition of in-cosmetics will be a memorable one for Sederma. Its anti-wrinkle active ingredient Matrixyl has received the 25 Years of Innovation Award which recognises the product that has had the greatest impact on the personal care market in the last quarter-century.
Launched in 2000, Matrixyl, with its 5 amino-acid chain linked to a 16-carbon chain to improve its biodisponibility to the skin, constitutes a natural messenger that triggers collagen synthesis. This active ingredient, reproducing a natural metabolism and designed to act on an identified target to stimulate the synthesis of a specific molecule, has been considered as a breakthrough in the cosmetic industry as voted for by over 1000 show visitors and a panel of industry experts.
“Matrixyl is not only a product, it is now a range thanks to the Sederma’s teams that have been working hard for such a long time. So I am very happy with this prize which recognizes their efforts,” said Olga Gracioso, Sederma’s marketing director, who received the award. The Matrixyl range consists of Matrixyl 3000 based on two peptides: a palmitoyl tripeptide and a palmitoyl tetrapeptide, and of a different palmitoyl tripeptide named Matrixyl synthe’6. Matrixyl’s name and efficacy are recognised by consumers; many brands mentioning it on their packaging as it has become a guarantee for efficacy with the label "Matrixyl® Inside”.
The show was also the opportunity for Sederma to present its two latest active ingredients:
• Majestem which reveals a visible lifting action on the neck and face (cheeks and eye contour). By neutralising the oxidative stress caused by pollution and irradiation, Majestem lifts the skin for a majestic beauty. In just three weeks the sagging neck skin is significantly tightened (surface -10.6% up to -56%)* and the neck folds are evened out. After six weeks, the cheeks are visibly lifted and crow’s feet wrinkles are smoothed out (surface -11% up to -75%)*. Majestem is derived from plant cell culture and complies with the Chinese regulation for cosmetic ingredients.
• Apiscalp is a multifunctional ingredient dedicated to scalp care. Apiscalp helps fight against dandruff, itching, dryness and hyperseborrhea to provide beauty and comfort to both oily scalp and dry scalp. It controls the local microflora (Malassezia) proliferation, restores the scalp stratum corneum integrity and regulates the epidermal differentiation and desquamation. After using Apiscalp for 21 days, 100% of the volunteers said that their scalp was less itchy and 93% with less dandruff. Sebum production on oily scalp has significantly decreased (up to -47 %, after only 7 days) while all scalp types are moisturised. Apiscalp is a plant-based ingredient obtained from the sustainable supercritical CO2 extraction process. It complies with the Chinese regulation for cosmetic ingredients.
