French company Naturex has unveiled a new collection of ingredients that tap into France’s heritage in agriculture and the cosmetics industry. The idea behind the ‘French Touch’ collection is to provide ingredients that are grown, harvested and processed in France.
Naturex’s R&D team has worked on the formulation of each ingredient to make it easily incorporated into different kinds of finished products.
The ingredients include grapeseed (from Burgundy), which contains well-known super antioxidant grape seed polyphenols. Because of their soothing and anti-irritant properties, grape seed polyphenols are suitable for around eye products reducing puffiness and tired eyes. In hair care, grapeseed extract acts as a vasculotonic and helps fight hair loss.
Also in the collection is Roman chamomile (from the Anjou area), and this ingredient has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to treat rashes and irritated skin. An infusion of the flowers is used as a shampoo, especially for fair hair, though Roman chamomile is normally preferred for skin care products.
Lavender is an iconic product of southern France, and the flowers are well-regarded for their aroma which induces relaxation. The essential oil has antimicrobial and antiinflammatory properties and has been used for the treatment of wounds.
There are seven products (with red clover, carrot, camargue rice and lemon balm) in the French Touch collection that are certified for use in China.
