The 2012 SCSS Suppliers Day, held on 3 August, took place at a new venue (Mandarin Orchard Hotel) which is centrally located and considered more up-market than the previous location, and following requests from delegates and exhibitors the date was changed to the first Friday in August.
The event attracted 93 delegates (entry was free of charge) coming from Singapore, Australia, France, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines and Thailand. The SCSS president, Mr Andrew Gan, welcomed the delegates followed by the product presentations from DSM Nutritional, Lipotec SA, B&T Company, Croda, Seppic, Evonik Degussa, HallStar and Ashland Specialty Ingredients. The papers were presented in three sessions which were chaired by Dr Magali Bonnier and Dr Alain Khaiat. The final session was a dedicated Table Top Session which allowed delegates time to meet and have discussions with the exhibitors. Each company who presented a paper also had a Table Top with other Table Top presentations from: Ajinomoto, Campo Research, PT Indokemika Jayatama, Lubrizol Advanced Materials, Nikko Chemicals, Taytonn and Technico Flor. The Table Top area was a separate hall adjacent to the presentation hall where each exhibitor was able to have customer discussions and demonstrate their technologies. The programme was closed by Andrew Gan. The SCSS try to provide an environment where suppliers and customers can meet which is hoped to be beneficial for both the delegates and exhibitors in support of development of the cosmetic and personal care industry in the region.
