FormulaCare is gearing up for a new look says founder and director of the event, Pamela Jones. The original FormulaCare was staged in the Philippines in March 2010 and saw feedback from participants highlighting a real need for formulation training for chemists in the personal care industry in the ASEAN region.
Pamela says it was with this feedback in mind that she decided to change the format of the training. A complete training package has been designed to meet the needs of formulators. The surveys conducted also found that laboratory formulators in local and multinational cosmetic manufacturing companies were not the only interested parties. A large number of participants from other areas such as formulators of ingredient suppliers, quality control technicians, technical sales, marketing and business development also felt the training would increase their knowledge and help them in their roles. FormulaCare has always been about the practical aspects of taking a guide formulation and turning it into a successful finished product. Many of today’s guide formulations are just not easy to mix at the bench and then scale up when you take into account the large variations from different suppliers in the raw materials or even variations in mixing apparatus available to the formulator and the design of their manufacturing sites. Pamela says it is like baking a cake: “You can have the photo and recipe but unless you use the correct, flour and ingredients as well as the right speed of the mixer and a good oven with the ideal temperatures your cake never ends up looking like the recipe photo.” The new look FormulaCare will be launched in November so keep a look out for information on the website: www.formulacare.com
