Lessonia has announced its Laminaria raw material has received organic certification with ECOCERT. This is the first cosmetic product available produced with organic certified seaweeds.
Lessonia believe this will lead to a revolution in the marine cosmetic world where any marine organic product on the market available previously would have been certified based on sugar, starch, or any other raw materials, but not algae. The seaweed comes from the North Atlantic Ocean and grows in very clean waters, free of any pollutant. These laminaria are attached to boulders by holdfasts in the lower intertidal and shallow subtidal down to a depth of 20 metres, in a unique and protected area. The seaweeds are harvested only during autumn and winter to ensure the environment is respected. The product from Lessonia can be purchased as an ingredient or included in finished products.
