Italian company, IRB, launched their new Stems G product, Gardenia jasminoides, at in-cosmetics Paris in April. Gardenia jasminoides, also simply known as gardenia or Cape jasmine, is a shrub of the Rubiaceae family which is native to China and Asia and widely spread in Europe as a fragrant and ornamental plant.
Gardenia jasminoides Stems G takes a threelevel approach to collagen loss, boosting collagen synthesis, reducing collagen degradation and inhibiting collagenase synthesis. Firstly, the product efficiently stimulates the physiological synthesis of new collagen, restoring its unavoidable loss associated with ageing. Then it strongly inhibits collagenase by limiting collagen degradation and preventing skin damage and firmness loss. Finally, it shows a potent anti-ageing effect by decreasing clearly the synthesis of MMP-1, an important ageing marker involved in extracellular matrix degradation.
